Sal Adamo – Visual Consultant/Designer & Adjudicator

Sal has 35 years of involvement in the pageantry arts activity. He has designed and coordinated shows for Drum Corps, HS Marching Bands and Winter Guards.

He has been an adjudicator for over 25 years and is qualified to judge all visual captions. He has adjudicated for all the premiere pageantry organizations:

  • Bands of America (BOA), Drum Corps Assoc. (DCA),
  • Drum Corps International (DCI), ISSMA, NYSFB
  • Winter Guard International (WGI – Guard & Percussion)

Sal has been a championship finalist’s judge for all of these organizations.

2018 Inducted – New Jersey Drum Corps Hall of Fame.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and studies watercolor painting.

Rob Schoos

Rob is a graduate of the Blake School of the Arts (Tampa, Fl) and is also an alumnus of the Florida State University School of Music, with a Degree in Music, Brass Performance/Pedagogy. In 2004 Rob began his educational career as the inaugural Director of Bands and Orchestra at the Sam Rampello K-8 School (Tampa, Fl), and in the fall of 2007, Rob assumed the position of Director of Bands at H.B. Plant High School (Tampa, Fl). Under his direction, the band program at Plant grew from 62 to more than 250 members that consisted of a State competitive 4A/5A Marching Program, FFCC/WGI Indoor Guard and Percussion ensembles with Top 5 music caption placements in the State Marching Band (FMBC) Championships consistently.

Since 2014 he has become a full time consultant and now has the opportunity to offer his services as a judge, guest clinician and consultant nationally. He is currently the Winds and Brass Caption Head for the Seminole H.S. “Warhawk” Band (St. Petersburg, Fl), which is the current 4A Marching Band State Champion. Seminole is a perennial BOA/ WGI/ FMBC Championship Finalist.
Rob is also an active freelance horn player and enjoys performing professionally with many regional orchestras throughout the Southeastern Region. He currently performs regularly with the Florida Orchestra (Tampa, Fl), the Southwest Florida Symphony (Ft Myers, Fl) and the Naples Chamber Society (Naples, Fl).

Rob enjoys spending his free time on the Florida Gulf beaches with his wife Erin and their 2 year old daughter Nola.

Mickey Kelly

Mickey has been involved in pageantry for over 45 years. He has designed and taught independent and high school bands, drum corps and guards continuously. Since Winter Guard International (WGI) began he has led and taught the world champion Skylarks (CT), World Champion Miamisburg HS (OH) World Champion Bishop Kearney HS (NY) and World Champion Cheshire HS (CT) – all regional and National champions. His vast experience as designer, program director and colorguard designer for drum and bugle corps throughout the US and Canada is ongoing.

Mickey has also been judging for over 40 years. He is currently an East Coast Judges Guild member and has participated as a guest judge on the National level multiple times over many years. Mickey currently is a selected judge for Drum Corps International (DCI): Drum Corps Associates (DCA) and Winter Guard International (WGI). He was formerly the chief judge coordinator for WGI in which he was a key participant in the development of the subjective system still utilized today.

Mickey is fortunate and honored to be a member of the WGI Hall of Fame (1992) and most recently inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame (2015).

Martin Griffin

Martin Griffin received his undergraduate degree in music at William Paterson University, where he performed with the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble and the New Jersey New Music Ensemble. He also has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kean University. Marty has been a Band Director in New Jersey for 29 years, and he is currently the Director of Bands and Coordinator of Fine Arts at Monroe Township High School. His responsibilities include directing the Marching Band (16 years), Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble as well as teaching AP Music Theory. The MTHS Marching Band was US Bands State and National Champions in 2013 and they were selected to represent New Jersey at the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor in 2016. Marty performed for five seasons with the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps and he has been a percussion arranger for high school bands throughout New Jersey since 1987. Marty currently judges for numerous organizations including Winter Guard International (WGI), Bands of America (BOA), and Drum Corps International (DCI). In 2006, Marty was selected to judge for the Drum Corps Japan Championships held in Yokohama, Japan. He is currently the Percussion Caption Head for Drum Corps Associates (DCA), the judging coordinator for The Mid Atlantic Percussion Society and he is member of the WGI Percussion Advisory Board.

Dennis Argul

Dennis H. Argul has been a NJ Public School educator for thirty three years. Dennis has taught music in the Bayonne, Jersey City and Newark Public Schools, working in the following roles: General Music teacher, Instrumental Music teacher, Marching Band Director Jazz Band Director, Concert Band Director, Wind Symphony Director, Musical Production Director, Brass Ensemble Director, Percussion Ensemble Director, Music Theory teacher, Music History teacher, Music Technology teacher, Tri M Advisor, Gospel Choir advisor, Step Team advisor, Steel Pan advisor, and Varsity Soccer Coach!

Since August of 2012, Dennis served as Supervisor of Music for the Elizabeth Public Schools where he oversaw eighty six music, dance and drama faculty. Despite the obstacles faced, performing arts education is alive and well in Elizabeth, NJ.

2017-2018 was Dennis’ final year in public education, as he has retired at the end of this academic year and is now excited to have taken a new role as Senior Director of Music and Education for JAZZ HOUSE KIDS in Montclair, NJ.

Dennis also has served as an adjunct Professor at NJCU, and is currently an adjunct for Montclair State University and Kean University. He is also on the Board of the New Jersey Music Educators Association, serving as the Advocacy and Administration Chair, and the Board of the New Jersey Administrators Association, serving as the Advocacy Chairman. Dennis is also a active member of Dance NJ and Speech and Theater Actors of NJ.

Dennis is also an active freelance low brass musician, specializing on the bass trombone. He is also an arranger, composer and adjudicator for various musical organizations including DCI.
