On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Roxbury High School Band Program will be hosting the 11th Annual Metropolitan Wind Band Invitational.
The Metropolitan Wind Band Invitation (MWBI) is a non-competitive festival and is a proud Music for All Affiliate Regional Music Festival, presented by Yamaha. The format of this festival will be similar to the prestigious National Concert Band Festival in its design and implementation. Each ensemble will perform on stage and receive written and recorded feedback from a panel of outstanding clinicians. After their performance, each group will then move to a clinic with one of the panel members. The MWBI is proud to offer all groups, regardless of level, a chance to learn from master teachers and conductors without the pressure of ratings or competition.
The crux of MWBI rests upon the quality of the evaluators, giving students and teachers alike access to some of the most nationally recognized names in the field of orchestral and wind band conducting and pedagogy they would not otherwise have the chance to interact with.
This year’s outstanding evaluator panel will include:
Professor Dennis Fisher – University of North Texas, ret’d
Dr. Daniel Cook – Ithaca College
Dr. James Colonna – Messiah University
Dr. Andrew Trachsel – University of North Texas
Dr. Joseph Missal – Oklahoma State University, ret’d
The Roxbury High School Band Program is proud to continue to serve our community through our partnership with Music for All. This festival is open to both bands and orchestras.
